The long road

Hello there! I’m Maciek, originally from Poland and a former Londoner. After 11 years in Aotearoa New Zealand with my wife, I moved back to the UK in November 2025 and I’m now based in Buckinghamshire. My life’s been quite a journey, and music has always been my faithful companion along the way.

I spend my days composing music that feels true to my heart, producing records for some incredibly talented artists, and playing live — from fronting my own blues band JT+Agnostics for many years, to playing guitar with the Ben Gilgen Show Band and others in New Zealand. Whether in small clubs or at big music festivals, connecting with people through music is what I love most. I took some time to settle back in after the move, and I’m now working most days in my new studio, writing music for a new album. From my UK base I’m available for UK/Europe gigs, remote sessions worldwide, and guitar lessons.

A few years back, at the Hamilton Gardens Arts Festival, I was lucky enough to get some kind words from Sam Edwards at the Waikato Times. He called my performance a “musically informed lesson in guitar” – that meant a lot to me. More recently, Mike Alexander described my style as “evocative but understated”, particularly praising my single Mr. Ponsonby for its “fluid guitar lines and laid-back solo”.

My latest project is an album called AWA, inspired by the stunning landscapes and rich culture of New Zealand. It’s a tribute to the place that was home for 11 years and is filled with tracks that I hope will move and inspire you as much as they do me. That landscape and culture remain a strong influence on my writing, even as I return to the UK.

My musical journey started with the British Invasion bands, and everything changed when I heard Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze.” That was the moment I knew I had to pick up a guitar. Over the years, my tastes have evolved from rock to jazz, influenced by legends like Miles Davis, and now I find myself exploring the roots of blues and soaking up music from around the world.
